Saltash Heritage Publications
Over the years Saltash Heritage have produced a selection of books about Saltash and the surrounding area.
Some are a history of a specific structure or people like the ‘Saltash Ferry’, or ‘Anne Glanville’, others are general history of the areas of the town or to compliment the themed exhibitions in Saltash Heritage Museum.
A number of DVD’s are available illustrating the town in years gone by.
The Local Heritage Centre also produce data sheets on local events, people structures and are always able to help researchers on any subject related to Saltash or the local area

T.S.Mount Edgucmbe by Bruce Hunt Training Ship for Homeless and Destitute Boys The Training Ship Mount Edgcumbe lay at anchor off Saltash for over 40 years, just up river from Brunel’s Royal Albert Bridge. Although a familiar landmark to the people of Saltash, there was little detailed information about the ship. It is thought that most of the records were retained by the last Superintendent, Captain Harkcom, and destroyed in WW2. Saltash Blue Plaque Trail by Bruce Hunt for Saltash Heritage
he Blue Plaques are now in situ and an A3 folded leaflet has been produced which illustrated the best route to take to see the plaques. It also contains points of interest that are on or close to the route.
.The leaflet has now been followed up with a 56 page book that expands on the leaflet exploring each plaque recipient in greater depth and is laid out to follow the same route as that in the leaflet. It also includes additional information on the places of interest mentioned in the leaflet.
The book costs a modest £3.50 and will include a copy of the leaflet

Aspects of Saltash by Bruce E Hunt
A fully illustrated book about Saltash which includes the history of the Saltash Ferry, the building of the Royal Albert Bridge, Saltash Railways, HMS Defiance, Forder and its tramway, St. Barnabas hospital and Wearde camp, the training ship Mount Edgcumbe, history of Saltash Waterside and Tamar Street. The book also includes a history of Fore Street with many photographs of shops from 1890 to 2008. A must for anyone who has an interest in local heritage.
